Self-Exclusion - When a Client chooses to 'self-exclude' their Client Betting Account they cannot use that account for any reason or at any time, during the self exclusion period. Any pending bets will stand and any winnings will be withdrawn to the bank details held on your account. Self Exclusion periods cannot be changed or removed at any stage during the exclusion period.
Any exclusion arrangement entered into with Bet Right directly, without the Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission self exclusion notice or without BetStop, only affects betting with Bet Right and not your ability to bet with other betting providers.
You can change your gambling habits and self-exclude with
- BetStop and/or
- Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission Self-Exclusion.
Registering with one to self-exclude does not mean you are automatically registered with the other for self-exclusion.
BetStop – The National Self-Exclusion Register
You can register with BetStop at their website:
BetStop allows people to self-exclude from all of the approximately 150 licensed interactive wagering services providers (providing legal online or phone wagering) in Australia in one simple process for periods ranging from a minimum of 3 months up to a lifetime (permanent). There is no cooling-off period if you self-exclude and then change your mind.
Only you can register with BetStop to self-exclude, no other person can register you with BetStop nor can Bet Right add you to the BetStop register.
Consequences
Once you have chosen your self-exclusion period, we have to close your betting account and return any money in the account. If there are any pending bets, we will wait until the bets have been settled. We are not allowed to accept a bet or open a new account for you. We are also not allowed to send direct marketing messages to you.
You will be able to nominate up to 5 support people to help you manage your self‑exclusion. Your personal details will be protected.
You are reminded that you should keep your details with BetStop – the National Self-Exclusion Register up to date.
Removal from register
You may apply to be removed. However, you cannot apply to be removed in the first 3 months of your self-exclusion period. You need the following:
- complete the application to be removed from the register;
- a statutory declaration completed by you, which confirms that you have obtained counselling or advice on your decision to end your self‑exclusion from a qualified counsellor, psychologist or doctor.
Any support people will be notified when this application is made.
If your application for removal is not withdrawn, you will be removed from the register 7 days after the application is received. Any support people will also be notified of the removal application.

- nominate one or more gambling operators;
- choose how long you want to self-exclude for - months, years or permanently.
If you ever feel you need further support regarding your gambling, Bet Right have a list of organisations that specialise in helping people affected by disordered gambling, their partners and families. It offers a supportive environment to talk about the impact that gambling has on their lives as well as the opportunity to learn new ways to manage the behaviour.
